Casady Baseball 1998

Week Ending: April 5, 1998

Thunderboomers rained us out vs. Deer Creek.  What else is new?  Next up, the Chargers.

April 1, 1998:

Casady 10  - Heritage Hall 2

The Cyclones maintained the hot bats as they thrashed the state ranked Chargers in game # 1.  Josh Sepkowitz powered the Cyclones with 3 ribbys and Tim Stakem shut them down on the mound with 5 inning run ruled gem.

Heritage Hall 14 - Casady 13

Game 2 saw the Cyclones blow a 4 run first inning lead, a 4 run in the 7 th inning lead, and a 2 run in the 8 th inning lead.  So much for pitching and defense.  Josh Sepkowitz led the way offensively with 4 rbi's & 4 hits.

April 4, 1998

Casady 10 - Christian Heritage 2

The sizzling Cyclone bats pounded the Crusaders.  Pete Petromilli & Josh Sepkowitz had towering dingers.  The Sepko collected 4 ribbys.  Adam "Second Chance" Mock had a big hit for 2 ribbys.  Sophomore starting pitcher Matt Murphy collected the win while only giving up 1 hit.

Casady 14 - Christian Heritage 13

The Cyclones came real close to imitating the Heritage Hall fiasco by blowing lead after lead with their swiss cheese defense.  However, a bases loaded homer in the bottom of the last by Josh "Man amongst Boys" Sepkowitz allowed the Clones to save face.

Nothing Gets Through Award (Defensive Gems):

A very ho-hum week  in terms of defensive gems.  Nick Finley , Josh Sepkowitz, Brian Stubbs, Clay Smith, & Tim Stakem had O.K. defensive gems.  Nothing that would make your eyes pop out, but, solid nonetheless. The big story this week has been our defensive collapses.  Fungoes, fungoes, and more fungoes are needed.

Moon Pie Mania (Something Special):

*  Josh Sepkowitz laid down a beauty of a hit vs. Christian Heritage.  (After the coach tells his 3 rd baseman to move back)
*  Nick Finley bunts for a bingle vs. HHall.
*  Patrick Quillian takes one in the b_tt against HHall.
