Casady Baseball 2004

Game One: Casady 1...Bethany 7 / Game Two: Casady 7...Bethany 6

The Cyclones played the tough Bronco's in a doubleheader on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.  Game One had the score even until the 4th inning when a combination of the bats coming alive for the Broncos and the Cyclones shooting themselves in the foot missing routine opportunities on defense.  The tough lefty pitching by Bethany shut down the Cyclones until the last inning where Drew Dawkins drilled a base hit to break up the NO NO and drive in the only run.  Game Two had two freshmen phenoms pitch the Cyclones to Victory.  Matt Pierce started the game and pitched 3 solid innings while only giving up one earned run...the wheels came off on the Cyclone defense.  Reed Arnold finished the last two innings collecting the victory.  Highlights of game two were timely hitting in the last inning as the Cyclones led off with 3 straight hits:  Jack Funk, Joel Ziebell (2 for 3), and Clark Laster....with the bases loaded and none out...the Cyclones ceremoniously received a hits batsman (KC Purdum - 2 ribbys) and a walk (Reed Arnold) to win the game...now...wasn't that easy?
