Spring Break Baseball Trip 2002

A good time was had by all as the Cyclones enjoyed warm weather and many reps during this years spring training in Arizona..  Below are some of the highlights of our trip.

Saturday March 16:  We traveled to Scottsdale, Arizona to see the training complex of the San Francisco Giants.  We had a tailgate lunch (including the baseball staple of hot dogs), saw a baseball game between the Giants and the Milwaukee Brewers, and then  had an evening work out of batting practice.

 Sunday March 17: We had morning, afternoon, & evening workouts...after the evening workout, we caught the last 3 innings of the OU Sooner baseball game vs. Arizona State. Earlier we had our annual U-R-Cooks bar-b-que at the local park where everyone threw their steaks (no throwing errors) on the hot grill.

Monday March 18: We had a light morning workout after a visit to a training camp…a 3:00 pm scrimmage vs. The Collegiate School at Valley Christian High School.   We also have an evening workout planned where the wiffle ball championships were held. 

 Tuesday March 19: We had a 9 am scrimmage vs. The Collegiate School at Valley Christian High School located in Chandler, Arizona…then an afternoon workout….then a spring training baseball game at night between the Anaheim Angels and the San Diego Padres.

Wednesday March 20: Another trip to a spring training camp...another workout and then another scrimmage vs. The Collegiate School at Valley Christian High School.  We had our team dinner at the old spring training eating establishment in Scottsdale (52 years old) ....The Pink Pony.

Thursday March 21: Another trip to a spring training camp...another workout...and then an afternoon at Arizona State University...followed by an early arrival to the airport so we could watch the OU Basketball Sooners whip Arizona to reach the Elite Eight.
